Project Quilting Season 16-2 completed! Ombre and hand painted fabric!

Hi!

I recently finished the second project for Project Quilting Season 16. The theme is "ombre".  I thought what do I really want to do right now?

Fabric painting!

I have painted fabrics before, and used up the little stash of them I had created. I still have lots of fabric painting supplies, so I decided to use this challenge to create additional fabrics to work with.

Here is my painted and quilted mini whole cloth quilt:

I like how the fabric matches my unicorn scissors. I used Aerofil Tula Pink variegated threads for the top quilting. I may go back and add an applique design on top of this, or some stitching. It is a canvas for possibilities. I also think it might be fun to make some hand painted placemats for our table.

Painting fabric is very relaxing, and you can make it as complicated as you like. The process itself is very easy, and not too messy. The above fabric has only one coat of paint on it, comprised of fuchsia and red violet paint, but you can add more to a piece of fabric, or add printing and texture to it. I'm hoping to explore this a bit more this year! I have some hand work to do, that I can work on while the fabrics dry.

Will plan to show more of my results here later, and some of the supplies I used!

Keep on creating and taking care of yourself!
