EQ Quilt Journeys Sew along - 1st block completed!

Hi,

Just a quick post!

I decided to participate in the EQ Quilt Journeys Sew Along for this month. It is a fun way to try out some new blocks, and use up some of my fabric stash!

The sew along uses blocks in the EQ Quilt Journeys Add-on, by Barbara Brackman. You can purchase the Add-on, or use the blocks featured in the Sew Along blog post. I'm using the blocks featured in the Sew-along blog.

I'm considering purchasing the add-on in the future (on a bit of a budget lately!) Though, they do have a nice discount code for it in the introductory blog. I have the Block Base program by Barbara Brackman, which works with my EQ8 program, and I like it very much.

There are giveaways for each week of the sew-along, and a final big prize (all random, no judging, which is nice sometimes!)

Great news! I've had a project published in the Quiltmaker July/August 2023 issue!

 Hi everyone,

I have some fun news to share! My Fruit Basket Table Topper Quilt and Placemats project has been published in the Quiltmaker July/August 2023 issue. I was even surprised to find my project on the cover! Very exciting!

It was a fun process, once my design was chosen by the editors, I got to choose fabrics to use in the project. I decided to use some beautiful Benartex fabrics. I received the fabric from Benartex and made this little quilt and placemats. I had used my EQ8 design program for designing this project. Sometimes I make improvisational quilts, or draw the design from scratch, but this time I chose to use EQ8. It was made in December of 2022 - so I was busy during the season! It was a lot of fun and very gratifying to make! And with the wonderful instructions in the magazine you can make your own version too!

There are some great projects in the magazine - all about food, kitchens and cooking. It is a beautiful issue!

Happy New Year 2021, a few little plans for the upcoming year!

Happy New Year to everyone!

I don't have too many new aspirations this year, just continuations from the previous year. Here is a list of what I am working on and plan to work on in 2021:

Continue finishing quilt tops I have started (making them into quilts and practicing my quilting on my Qnique 14+ quilting machine). One example is below, though there are a few more:

Improvisational quilt top I made for an online challenge. 
The challenge was to make a quilt top using 5 fat quarters and 2 additional fabrics. 
I hope to quilt this one, as a way to practice my quilting on my Qnique 14+ quilting machine.
 It takes a lot of practice to become an accomplished quilter, kind of like playing a musical instrument!

I have some odd projects that I would like to complete so I can put them away, rather than having them in the uncompleted stack!

Little quilt I started in the 90s, it has hand quilting.
Began before I had met and married my husband!
Would like to finish this little one!

And the biggest commitment for this year is to work on creating a pattern for the Camp Verde Community Library quilt mural that I created designs for in 2020. I will be sharing little videos with the library as I work on it throughout the year. I plan to use EQ8 software to create the project. I will write a post(s) later with photos and more details about my process! 

Hope to continue healthy habits and lose a little weight ( I have been averaging a 5 lb weight loss each year for the last 2 years!). Seems like I lose in the Summer when there are more fresh fruits to eat, and also a little work in our yard and garden. I like the slow process better than trying to lose quickly.
